8x10" lenticular print
2026
Open edition

'Ambient I' is a brand new (2026) 3D lenticular print with an algorithmic all-over style composition. Blending abstract expressionist and psychedelic aesthetics, the work explores the sublime & the infinite though intricate layering and arrangement of shapes. It features meandering three dimensional shapes that appear to drift out of the frame towards the viewer and recede into the background.
'Ambient I' was made as part of a 2025 Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) professional development grant, where I mentored under Isaac Cheung and learned how to print and assemble lenticular images with the intention of producing new editions from my studio. It was created using 15 different perspectives of a digital scene.
Please note that when looking at a simulation of Ambient I online, the 3D effect (or lenticular illusion) is lost and I needed to move the camera left to right to demonstrate the dimensionality. In person, however, looking directly at the print, the shapes automagically float in space and it appears as if there's a few inches of depth beyond the picture plane.
For the technically inclined or curious, this is a 40 LPI (lenses per inch) print with 15 interlaced frames rendered in Blender with custom shaders. It's designed for intimate, close-up viewing–at a distance of 1-2 feet from the artwork.
