Fried Motherboards is a new series of lenticular images inspired by a broken water fountain display that I encountered at Portland International Airport (PDX). Its motherboard was fried and, instead of counting the number of disposable water bottles saved from the waste stream, was spewing out the most psychedelic string of characters, essentially spawning its own abstract language and, in turn, a new universe.
This hybrid digital/analog work blends psychedelic and abstract expressionist aesthetics.
When viewed in person, Haywire's large lenticular lens creates the illusion that the colorful gestural marks jump out from beyond the picture plane and the background recedes into the distance.
